My Story

My love for storytelling began when I started working as an actress for a TV Series in Colombia called “Juego Limpio” in 2005. I was at the same time going to college with the dream to become a sports journalist. But in front of the cameras somehow sparked a huge interest about creating my own stories. Since that time my career has slowly started taking shape. I became a journalist and started in one of the popular broadcast companies in Colombia. I started first as an intern for investigative news and then I worked my way up to a reporter covering health, sports, economics and politics for the Morning and Afternoon news broadcasts.

After more than a year as a reporter with RCN, an opportunity arrived with FOXTELECOLOMBIA, the FOX production company in Colombia. I started a new journey as a post-production coordinator where my love for TV and film production grew more. I enjoyed the opportunity to work with big TV shows, realities, documentaries and telenovelas. After a couple of years I noticed I was missing something really important to grow in my career, I needed to speak “English” to communicate with larger customers in the United States, so I decided to take a leap and moved to Atlanta, GA, to learn English. I studied English as a second Language in Georgia Tech, and became inspired to start a Master’s degree in Film and TV in Savannah College of Art and Design.

After finishing my Masters I continued my journey in United States, it was a new beginning, a new me, a new career in a completely different language and location. I started first with an internship in CNN Español as News Desk Journalist, then promoted to Associate Producer. Unexpectedly I got an offer from the Weather Company – IBM – The Weather Channel Digital to work as a video producer and editor. It was really hard for me to make the decision to leave CNN since it was kind of a dream to work there, but I was working in Spanish and I wanted to open opportunities and challenge myself to work full time in English. Doing news in English, a language that I had just learned, was harder than I ever imagined, but I have been persistent in making great stories. Using innovation and new skills to tell those stories each and every day.

On my career journey I am not just a producer or editor but also design and work with motion graphics and articles in english. I found a great team and together we produce a wide variety of stories that leave me with a sense of pride in our work. In this role, more than any previous role, I have the opportunity to shape my skills, my judgement and my innovative skill set to add additional creativity to tell the story. Somehow through my time from Colombia to Georgia Tech to Savannah and back to Atlanta I fell in love with the vast and changing world of digital storytelling.

During my career I have had the opportunity to work in outstanding companies with incredible teams.  My experiences in each of these small and big companies has given me the skills to move to places I have never imagined I could get in my professional life.
